2025’s Music Industry Funding Is Rapidly Approaching $4 Billion — With the Total Topping $6 Billion When Factoring for the ABS Madness, DMN Pro Data Shows

2025’s year-to-date music industry funding is rapidly approaching the $4 billion mark – with a seemingly strong chance of surpassing the cumulative totals delivered by 2023 and 2024.
Those are some of the many insights made possible by data compiled in DMN Pro’s Music Industry Funding Tracker. Featuring comprehensive funding details for companies operating in and around the music sector, the one-stop resource previously shed light on H1 2025’s close to $4 billion in core industry funding.
(Here, “core” refers to businesses positioned directly within the music world – though the Funding Tracker also monitors music-adjacent rounds with ties to and/or implications for the industry. To name a couple non-core examples, the database has logged AI giant Anthropic’s massive raises and those attributable to TikTok rival Triller.)
But in another testament to funding’s inherent unpredictability, things have been relatively slow since July’s start. Regarding music-specific core funding, there wasn’t much activity last month save AI-powered startup Arthos’ $730,000 pre-seed raise and Warner Music’s $1.2 billion catalog JV with Bain Capital.
The near-term raise landscape has been comparatively barren in August as well – the exception being when funding provider beatBread scored a cool $124 million. To state an obvious (albeit easily overlooked) point, that’s still a sizable sum, and 2025’s full-year music funding certainly has the potential to top 2024’s $4.6 billion.
Furthermore, there are several ways to frame and break down the multifaceted 2025 funding data.
Just scratching the surface: The Tracker doesn’t log debt financing. But if so inclined, one could draw funding conclusions by considering, among other tranches, the $500 million HarbourView raised via debt in June.
Plus, music players are raising capital likely destined for non-core investments – see the $100 million pulled down by The Chainsmokers’ Mantis. And factoring for the ABS madness – including a combined total of over $2 billion for Concord and Blackstone/Recognition in late July – will paint a dramatically different picture yet, complete with over $6 billion in 2025 YTD funding.
Whatever the angles one wants to analyze, DMN Pro is alone in tracking and compiling funding information, which isn’t solely useful because of its hard numbers and the comparisons they enable.
Stated bluntly, the industry’s rapid-fire news cycle tends to render certain companies (as well as topics) out of sight and out of mind. However, now-defunct music startups have raised hundreds of millions of dollars in recent years, DMN Pro exclusively reported.
Meanwhile, Pro subscribers also have access to similarly valuable databases like the Music IP Acquisition Tracker and the Music Industry Litigation Tracker – besides weekly reports and much more.
