As Mark Zuckerberg begins investing heavily in Shreveport, Louisiana, 50 Cent applauds the effort. But what are Meta’s plans for Shreveport?

Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced plans to spend billions building a new AI facility in Shreveport, Louisiana. That’s a welcome move as far as rap legend 50 Cent is concerned, who has also based his business operations in the city.

“I told y’all, all roads lead to Shreveport,” said 50 in a now-deleted Instagram post.

Recently, 50 Cent announced his own plans to build what is being called the G-Dome in Shreveport. The G-Dome is inspired by the Las Vegas Sphere and will be a permanent arena in the city. His G-Unit Studios is already set up in Shreveport, with plans for further expansion—something supported by local government committees.

Meanwhile, President Trump claims Meta will increase its Louisiana data center investment to as much as $50 billion in order to make the state a hub for artificial intelligence. The data center is slated for completion in 2028 and is projected to be the size of Manhattan, and the largest economic development project in Louisiana’s history.

While many are applauding the efforts and describing them as a boon for Louisiana’s economy, others noted the similarities to Elon Musk’s xAI data center in Memphis. Despite locals’ health concerns, the city’s Chamber of Commerce has gone to tremendous lengths to promote the data center—even sending out a mailer that ProPublica reports as containing inaccurate information.

Since the opening of the Memphis facility, concerned residents have noted the emissions from dozens of methane gas turbines and the amount of water usage, leaving locals with less water and clean air. Communities across the country are dealing with a boom in data centers and supercomputing facilities in areas already zoned for industrial use near rural communities—making zoning restrictions an unavailable option for many.

Whether Shreveport will end up fighting similar battles as Memphis remains to be seen. But regardless of its possible role as a data hub, the city seems to have a bright future on the horizon with the addition of 50 Cent’s G-Dome.
