Disco Biscuits “Come Home” to Philly
The Disco Biscuits made their debut at Philadelphia’s Franklin Music Hall last night, the venue located on the site of the former Electric Factory. Though it was their first time at the space in its current iteration, the Electric Factory was the band’s home base from the early ‘00s to 2015. (They first played there in 1997 opening for Melvin Seals & JGB.)
The band nodded to the moment by opening with “Coming Home”–which they debuted at the venue in 2002 and last played in 2021–and teased the unofficial Philadelphia theme, Rocky classic “Eye of the Tiger” during the tune. Then, they closed their seamlessly segued first set with “Home Again.”
The Disco Biscuits’ second set was also a seamlessly segued event, kicking off with an extended freeform jam and closing “Digital Buddha.” The band also debuted “Ring the Doorbell Twice,” their second new song introduction in as many shows co-written with friend Joey Friedman.
A pairing of “Buy the Time” and Pink Floyd’s “Run like Hell” closed the night. Disco Biscuits will return to the venue tonight.
