Bassinthegrass returns to Darwin this weekend for another huge weekend on Mindil Beach. With a line-up featuring everyone from the Hilltop Hoods to The Amity Affliction, there’s a little something for fans of all kinds of music. Of course, there will be plenty of out-of-towners making their way up north to join in on the fun that might not know the best things to see and do while they’re in the area. Luckily, Music Feeds has enlisted the help of a tour guide – who also happens to be a multi-platinum ARIA Award nominee who is performing as part of this weekend’s festival.

Cyril, who you might know from his global smash ‘Stumblin’ In’ or his recent reworks of classics like Crowded House‘s ‘Fall At Your Feet’ and Paramore‘s ‘Still Into You’, is Darwin born and raised – and proud of it, too. So who better to give you the hot tips of where to go and what to do? C U in the NT!

Cyril – ‘Stumblin’ In’

1. Crocosaurus Cove

Croc Cove is such an iconic place to go. Heading downstairs for a few beverages, then heading upstairs to Croc Heaven is always a great way to spend a Sunday. If you’re game, the Cage of Death is next level – nothing like eye contact with a five-metre croc to wake you up after a few drinks!

2. Territory Wildlife Park

The Territory Wildlife is such a fun place. Whenever I have friends come up from down south, this is one of the first places I’ll take them. The crocs and the random lion up the back are definitely my favourites.

3. Mayberry Darwin

I love going down to Mayberry for a few drinks and seeing some mates. The staff there are always nice. On a Saturday, I don’t mind going up the stairs annoying the DJ to play ‘Stumblin’ In’. It’s one of those spots that somehow manages to feel classy and chaotic all at once. Everyone’s up for a yarn, the cocktails go down way too easy, and – if you’re lucky – you’ll score a booth and settle in for the night.

4. Monsoons

Such an iconic venue. I’ve had many blurry nights in this party bar. It’s loud, it’s loose, and it’s 100% Darwin nightlife energy.

5. Berry Springs

This one is slightly scary, because that water is deep and I swear I always feel like there is a croc looking at me while I’m swimming. Nevertheless, I have so much fun out there on a good dry season day. The water is crystal clear, perfect temperature, and shaded by tropical trees that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a postcard.

6. Litchfield National Park

Waterfalls, lookouts, beautiful nature and swimming holes are just a few small ways of describing how much fun this place is. Being able to have a safe camping spot down here in the dry season with dragonflies everywhere is honestly iconic. Whether it’s Florence Falls or Wangi, the swims are unbeatable.

7. Palmerston Shopping Centre

Palmo never gets boring. There’s always something going on down there when I’m heading to Edge to buy my third outfit of the week. Always love having a quick bevvie in Landmark, too. Gee, this list is really making me sound like an alco…

8. Darwin Waterfront

The Waterfront is where my missus and I always love to head to for some dinner. There’s such a good atmosphere and great food… and yes, the bevies are good too. With the ocean breeze, fairy lights, and live music drifting through the air, it’s got that laid-back vibe without being too fancy. You’ve got your pick of eats, from laksa to burgers, and there’s always a good crowd around.
