Last night, June 4, Goose rolled into the Grand Canyon State for the latest performance in their Everything Must Go tour. For their final show in the West, the indie-jam outfit sent off the region in style with their first-ever engagement in Phoenix, offering a hot and heavy two-set staging lined with expansive jams. Among the highlights of the evening was the indie groove quartet’s return to a long-running cover of The Beatles, which marked their first Fab Four cover of 2025.

Goose set off their show at the Arizona Financial Theater with “Hot Love & The Lazy Poet,” which has become a tried and true opener since its debut just over a year ago with 13 total intro placements. After merging into “Turned Clouds,” the band took a beat and perfectly weaved “The Whales” into a bisected “Time to Flee” and stretched out into unpredictable, unfettered jams on a treatment of “Seekers on the Ridge.” Now fully loosened up and ready to fly, the group wrapped up the first set with a titanic 25-minute take on “Hungersite,” their second longest to date.

The first frame clearly charged Goose up for more free-flowing improvisation, as they followed with an hour and 10-minute second set comprising only four songs. The sprawling exploration commenced with the Night Lights EP favorite “Wysteria Lane,” which after 16 minutes bridged seamlessly into The Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows.” The group’s 13th take on the 1966 Revolver classic fittingly elicited some dreamy retro psychedelia, reaching to the sky with warm guitar beams from Rick Mitarotonda and grounded in a steady, shuffling backbeat from Cotter Ellis.

From this definite high point, the band continued to push to the outer limits with “Slow Ready” and a record-setting 28-minute “Dripfield.” The band closed on a triumphant, blissed-out peak, then sent the audience off into the night with an encore of Bruce Hornsby’s “The Way It Is.”

Goose will return to the stage tomorrow, June 6, for the first of two performances at Greenwood Village, Colo.’s Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre. They’ll keep the marathon coming with 18 further engagements through the end of August, including high-profile festival bookings like Newport Folk and their first headline performance at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
