Roger Waters’ ‘This Is Not A Drill – Live from Prague The Movie’ Receives Theatrical Release Date, Watch “Wish You Were Here”

Roger Waters has announced the global theatrical release of his new concert film, This Is Not A Drill – Live from Prague The Movie, via Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Vision. The concert experience will hit cinemas worldwide on July 23. Tickets go on sale June 12 on the artist’s official website, in association with the movie.

The film was recorded and filmed during the founding member of Pink Floyd’s live performance at the O2 Arena in the Czech Republic on May 25, 2023. Billed as Waters’ first-ever “Farewell Tour,” the movie adaptation features new and exhilarating edits, directed by his longtime collaborative partner, Sean Evans. Packed into the theatrical presentation are 20 songs from the musician’s Floyd days and solo archive, ranging from “Us & Them” to “Comfortably Numb,” “Wish You Were Here,” and “Is This The Life We Really Want?”

In Rogers’ classic style, the night teeters into political and philosophical territory in recognition of the show and the musician’s dedication to “our brothers and sisters all over the world who are engaged in the existential battle for the soul of humanity.” Rogers is backed by Jonathan Wilson, Dave Kilminster, Jon Carin, Gus Seyffert, Joey Waronker, Robert Walter, Shanay Johnson, Amanda Belair, and Seamus Blake on stage.

This Is Not A Drill was captured in 8K, allowing for heightened clarity. It also received enhanced audio mixing that provides optimal intake. In tandem with news of the forthcoming theatrical arrival, Rogers shares “Wish You Were Here,” which begins with a text overlay giving background on the semblance of Floyd:

“In 1963, Syd and I went to London to see a pop concert at the Gaumont State in Kilburn. Gene Vincent was the headliner, and the Rolling Stones were also on the bill. Going home to Cambridge on the train afterwards, Syd and I had it completely figured out. We made an agreement that when we were at college in London, we’d start a band.” Watch below.
