Hoodoo Gurus are under new management.

The ARIA Hall of Fame-inducted rockers will be managed by Bill Cullen’s Sydney-based One Louder Entertainment, The Music Network can exclusively reveal, joining a roster that includes Paul Kelly, Ball Park Music, Kate Miller-Heidke and others.

The Gurus were, of course, led by legendary artist manager Michael McMartin for four decades, until he handed over the reins in 2024 to concentrate on health issues. The Canada-born artist manager passed away last year after a lengthy battle with cancer, at the age of 79.

Dominic “Mick” Mazzone, the experienced artist manager, tech production professional and industry allrounder, took on management of the Gurus, before he too passed in April of this year following an illness.

With great hair, hits and a part-swampie, part-surf rock, all-groovy appeal, Hoodoo Gurus burst into the public consciousness with their 1984 debut album Stoneage Romeos, which went on to win Best Debut Album category at the Countdown Awards.

More awards, and a slew of hits for follow, culminating in induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2007. Stoneage Romeos earned a spot in Rolling Stone Australia’s list of 200 greatest Australian albums.

James Baker, the shaggy-haired drummer and bandman who co-formed Hoodoo Gurus, died at his home in Perth earlier this year, after succumbing to cancer. He was 71.
