Holy Holy’s Oscar Dawson Signs JV Publishing Deal With Mushroom Music, UK’s Bucks

Oscar Dawson, the Australian writer, producer, engineer and one half of Holy Holy, signs a joint venture publishing deal with Mushroom Music and the UK’s Bucks Music Group.

As a writer, producer and engineer, Dawson has worked with the likes of Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, Vacations, Amy Shark, Alex Lahey, The Darklings, Last Dinosaurs, Lotte Gallagher, Jamie McCool and others.

And as a founding member of the indie-rock duo Holy Holy, Dawson, along with lyricist Timothy Carroll, notched five albums and more than 170 million streams across platforms, including 150 million on Spotify alone.

Holy Holy boast half a million monthly listeners on Spotify, and 23 consecutive singles added to triple j, 10 of which topped the national youth network’s most-played list.

“We’ve long admired Oscar as an artist, writer and producer here at Mushroom, and we’re thrilled to be working with him on this next chapter of his career,” says Erol Yurdagul, Mushroom Music senior director, A&R and creative, on the new signing.

“Collaborating alongside our great friends at Bucks makes it even more special.”

Earlier this year, Holy Holy dropped Sweet Bitter Sweet, a double EP that served as their final release before an indefinite hiatus. A national jaunt — the Grand Hiatus Tour — wrapped in June.

Dawson’s deal is an extension of a sub-publishing agreement forged by Mushroom Music and Bucks in 2018, through which the companies represent each other’s catalogues in their respective home territories of the UK and Australia/New Zealand.

Bucks Music Group was founded in 1967, and is said to be one of the longest-running independent music publishers in the UK.  Bucks’ catalogue includes works written by David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Procol Harum, DJ Fresh, James Blunt, and many others.
