KLP Launches ‘VITAL’ Songwriting, Mentorship Program
KLP’s next project is vital.
The Australian DJ, artist and industry figure today announces a new songwriter and mentorship program, VITAL, with support from the New South Wales government through Sound NSW.
It’s open to 10 female and gender expansive artists based in NSW, who will receive access high-level mentoring, collaborative songwriting sessions, and monthly industry development check-ins over a year-long period, tooling them up with networks, skills and confidence to build long-term careers in music.
Those emerging creators will receive a full 12 months of mentoring from KLP plus industry professionals including Tom Honeywill (Late Nite Business & Medium Rare Recordings), Lachie McQueen (Breezecore Music) and Anna Fitzgerald (founder of ms.fitz communications).
Each mentee receives:
- Return travel (if required) within NSW and accommodation to attend a two-day professional development intensive in Sydney, NSW, featuring songwriting sessions, workshops, and creative collaboration with peers and mentors. Dates: 29th-30th September
- Monthly one-on-one mentorship sessions for 12 months with leading industry professionals including:
- KLP – DJ, producer and A&R for Sweat It Out Publishing
- Anna Fitzgerald – Publicist, radio plugger and founder of Ms.Fitz Communications
- Tom Honeywill – Artist manager at Late Nite Business and Founder of Medium Rare Recordings
- Lachie McQueen – Founder of Breezecore Music, artist management services
- $1,000 production grant to go towards mixing and mastering a track developed during the program.
“One-off workshops are great, but real growth happens over time,” KLP explains in a statement, “through consistent guidance, connection and having someone in your corner that understands the process. I’m beyond excited to go on this journey with some up-and-coming artists over the next year.”
This “groundbreaking initiative,” she continues in a social post, is “designed to uplift the next generation of diverse voices in the NSW music scene.”
Applications are now open, with the program set to run from September 2025 to August 2026.
An APRA and ARIA Award-nominated artist, and A&R executive in Sweat It Out’s publishing division, KLP boasts writing credits on cuts by SG Lewis, Skrillex, What So Not, Sonny Fodera, Marten Hørger, Peking Duk and more, and has releases on such labels as Higher Ground, MicroHertz, Ministry of Sound, Ultra Records and MRR.
In late October, KLP is headed to Amsterdam Dance Event 2025, where she’ll run a first-of-its-kind Australian songwriting camp, representing independent dance publishers globally.
