Soulja Boy was arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of possession of firearms. He was booked in the early morning on a felony charge.

Rapper Soulja Boy was arrested in Los Angeles following a traffic stop at 2:50 AM on Sunday. The 35-year-old was taken into custody on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Officers then discovered a firearm in the vehicle, and Soulja Boy was later booked at 6:18 AM on a felony charge.

On Saturday night, the rapper had been celebrating his birthday at a nightclub in Los Angeles, per footage in his Instagram Stories. He also premiered new music on a Twitch stream earlier in the day, following the release of his most recent album, The Influence, in February.

Soulja Boy’s arrest comes almost four months after he was ordered to pay a former assistant nearly $4 million when he was found liable in connection with a 2021 lawsuit. In the filing, the assistant alleged he sexually assaulted her and held her captive.

The Jane Doe accuser was awarded compensatory damages on April 10. At the time, the rapper told Rolling Stone he had “never done any of the things they’re accusing me of.” An attorney for Soulja Boy also said that “the evidence does not support the verdict,” and that he “fully intends to pursue his post-trial remedies and fight for a just result.”

Meanwhile, the Jane Doe’s attorney said his client was “vindicated,” and they were looking forward to moving on to the punitive damages phase of the case.

Soulja Boy recently performed with Bow Wow at SeaWorld, a year after their viral performance at the San Diego facility. The performance was part of a concert series at the SeaWorld stage, which started on June 21 and runs until August 23. The series has featured performances from Fat Joe, Waka Flocka Flame, Trina, and Ginuwine, as well as artists from the I Love the 90s Tour, including Color Me Badd, Naughty By Nature, Tone Loc, Rob Base, and Vanilla Ice.
