Deezer has reported a dramatic escalation in the amount of fully AI-generated music being delivered to its platform—up to 28% of all music delivered is now AI generated.

Where earlier reports from the DSP indicated that AI-generated content made up 10% of uploads in January, the newly released data reveals the figure has swelled to account for more than 30,000 tracks per day. AI-generated tracks climbed from 10% in January to 18% in April, reaching a record 28% of all tracks delivered in September 2025. Deezer’s AI detection tools were launched at the beginning of this year to enable the precise tracking of this growing trend.

Most of these AI-generated tracks are created using generative models such as Suno and Udio. “Following a massive increase during the year, AI music now makes up a significant part of the daily track delivery to music streaming and we want to lead the way in minimizing any negative impact for artists and fans alike,” said Alexis Lanternier, CEO, Deezer.

“Our approach is simple: we remove fully AI-generated content from algorithmic recommendations and we don’t include it in editorial playlists. This way we ensure the impact on the royalty pool remains minimal, while providing a transparent user experience. And most importantly, we continue to fight fraudulent activity, which is the main driver behind uploading fully AI generated content.”

While AI-generated music now comprises a sizable portion of new uploads, it represents a smaller share of actual streams—about 0.5% on Deezer. However, Deezer’s analysis indicates that the main incentive for uploading AI-derived tracks is fraudulent manipulation, as up to 70% of streams on those tracks is determined to be fraudulent. Deezer excludes these manipulated streams from royalty calculations, aiming to safeguard its royalty pool for authentic music creators.

According to a recent study by CISAC and PMP strategy, up to 25% of creator revenues—around €4 billion ($4.27 billion USD)—could be at risk globally by 2028 if the current pace continues. The industry is under increasing pressure to address these challenges, giving the rapid proliferation of synthetic, AI-generated tracks now taking over DSPs.

Deezer has taken several measures to mitigate the impact of AI-generated music on both artists and fans. The company tags 100% AI-generated tracks, removes them from algorithmic recommendations, and does not feature them in its editorial playlists. In December 2024, the DSP applied for two patents related to this AI detection technology, which allows them to identify signatures unique to AI generated content.

For now, Deezer remains the only streaming service to tag 100% of AI-generated content. The company says it is also considering further policy updates to protect artists’ rights, including revisiting supplier policies and potential demonetization for AI-generated content.
