Sam Grisman Project have mapped out the next leg of their live tour dates. The ensemble, which is led by bassist Sam Grisman, the son of mandolin virtuoso and Jerry Garcia’s ‘90s collaborator, David “Dawg” Grisman, will be joined by a rotating cast of bluegrass heavyweights when the run picks up on November 12, in Kent, Ohio.

During the impending live performances, Grisman and his chosen collaborators will draw from their extensive catalog, offering highly regarded covers from his father’s archive, Garcia and the Grateful Dead’s songbook, as well as bluegrass masters, and originals that showcase the individual prowess and expertise of the craft.

After delivering a gig in the Buckeye State, Sam Grisman Project will bring their appreciation from the greats and the players that have come before them to Warren, Pa., performing at the Struthers Library Theatre, before packing up and moving down the line to Buffalo, N.Y.’s Town Ballroom, on Nov. 15.

They will break away from the stage, resuming their touring commitments on the other side of the country on Dec. 19, at Field Arts & Events Hall in Port Angeles, Wash., ahead of their annual return to Seattle, where they have upgraded to the Neptune Theatre.

The next round of live dates won’t take place until after New Year’s, arriving on January 8. It will feature the group at Strings Music Pavilion in Steamboat Springs, Colo., which kicks off a regional stay with follow-ups in Aspen, Colo. [Jan. 9] and Beaver Creek, Colo. [Jan. 10].

Sam Grisman Project’s tour extension comes on the heels of Jerry Garcia and David “Dawg” Grisman’s ‘Not For Kids Only’ Coming to Vinyl for First Time with New Outtakes and Alternative Cuts. Notably, the band has integrated material from the children’s set into their live shows, performing the tongue twister “Jenny Jenkins,” Elizabeth Cotton’s “Freight Train,” hair-raising “When First Unto This Country,” and the all-ages favorite, “There Ain’t No Bugs on Me,” among others.

The band will support the album on October 26, 2025, at One Fellow Square in Portland, Maine, where they will present two sets: an afternoon set at 2 p.m. and a later frame, slated for 7:30 p.m.
