Zach Bryan biggest US concert in Michigan

Country star Zach Bryan made history this weekend for the largest ticketed concert audience in US history, playing for 112,408 at Michigan Stadium.

On Saturday night, Zach Bryan made history at Michigan Stadium, playing for an audience of 112,408. According to the show’s promoter, AEG Presents, it’s the largest ticketed concert audience in U.S. history. The feat follows Bryan selling out the show in under three hours back in February.

With support from Ryan Bingham, The Texas Gentlemen, Joshua Slone, and special guest John Mayer, the event also set a merchandise sales record at around $5 million. Not too shabby for the largest ticketed show in U.S. history.

The record for the country’s largest ticketed show was previously held by another country star, the legendary George Strait. He drew a crowd of 110,905 to Kyle Field in Texas last year. Strait also held the #3 spot with an audience of 104,793 during the same tour in New Jersey.

Before that, the previous #2 record was held by the Grateful Dead, with their 1977 concert at Raceway Park in New Jersey, with an audience of 107,019.

Michigan Stadium is the largest venue of its kind in the United States, and the third largest in the world. The stadium has previously held other sporting events, but this was the first time an artist headlined a concert there.

Meanwhile, the record for the largest concert audience in history was for Rod Stewart’s 1994 New Year’s Eve show at Brazil’s Copacabana Beach, with a crowd of around 3.5 million. Other enormous shows held there have included Lady Gaga’s concert in May for 2.1 million; Madonna’s 2024 show for 1.6 million; the Rolling Stones’ 2006 show for 1.5 million; and Jorge Ben in 1993 for a crowd of 3 million. But those were all free concerts.

Zach Bryan recently renewed his deal with Warner Records and sold his publishing catalog in a deal with a combined value of around $350 million. Released last summer, his most recent album, The Great American Bar Scene, saw an impressive 17 of its 19 tracks on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in its first week.
