John Mayer is taking his Solo Tour to new parts of the world.

The globally-recognized guitarist, who has spent many seasons supporting Bobby Weir in the Grateful Dead offshoot Dead & Company, will bring his songs to the Middle East and South Asia this winter.

Mayer, who released his latest album, Sob Rock, in 2021, will support that and more material beginning January 20 at Al Dana Amphitheatre in Bahrain. The three-stop run will continue on January 22 at Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai, India, before coming to a close after one final evening abroad on January 24 at Saadiyat Nights Amphitheatre in Abu Dhabi.

The international live shows are billed as the latest leg of Mayer’s Solo Tour, which centers on the virtuoso’s independent strengths, moving effortlessly from acoustic to electric guitar and piano. Unlike gigs supported by a full band, the artist situates the night’s significance around the intimacy of a single player.

Mayer follows in the footsteps of his musical predecessors, who made the trek to perform in front of a new audience, such as the greats Duke Ellington and Led Zeppelin, who brought their sound to India in the 1960s and 1970s.

Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, and other contemporary acts have also drawn massive crowds in the region, contributing to the demand for big-name performers.
