On Saturday night, Eggy opened for Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers at Higher Ground in South Burlington, Vt. The evening represented Dani Battat, Jake Brownstein, Alex Bailey, and Mike Goodman’s final appearance in support of the Grateful Dead’s ‘90s collaborator, after initially commencing a series of shared dates on September 27, at the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville, Va. Following pre-existing patterns, members of the Noisemakers sat in with Eggy, adding collaborative flair to the night.

Before welcoming added support to the stage, Eggy commenced their set with the arrival of “Woah There,” a common feature of their live shows. The initial song came before a piece from the band’s Waiting Game collection, an original album released last year that features “Must Come Down.” The second song sank into an ensuing “Razi,” a track that has been a part of Eggy’s repertoire since 2019.

Next, Eggy welcomed members of Hornsby’s band, including Gibb Droll on guitar and John Mailander on fiddle, during “Leatherback.” The back and forth represented some of the opening acts’ best jam moments, and even after their guest stepped off stage, the interplay continued to illuminate the joint understanding of one another’s capacity on “Parceled Serotonin.”

After submitting a slate of dates with Hornsby, Eggy will take a break from tour. The band is scheduled to resume their live schedule on Halloween, October 31, and November 1, at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom’s Other Side.

Tickets remain on sale.
