Ticketmaster is undergoing a significant leadership change as regulatory investigations intensify on both sides of the Atlantic.

Effective November 1, Saumil Mehta will assume the role of Global President, reporting directly to Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino. This marks a major generational transition for Ticketmaster, following a period of mounting scrutiny from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Department of Justice (DOJ), the United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), as well as the U.S. Supreme Court.

Outgoing president Mark Yovich will step into a new role as Chairman. With Mehta now leading operations, Yovich will focus on long-term strategy and global expansion at a time when the ticketing giant is facing intense regulatory scrutiny. In September 2025, the FTC alongside several state Attorneys General filed a complaint alleging Ticketmaster engaged in ‘bait and switch’ pricing tactics.

The lawsuit also alleges that Ticketmaster permits brokers to circumvent controls, enabling large-scale scalping and driving additional profits through its resale platform. The FTC estimates consumers were charged $16.4 billion in hidden fees from 2019 to 2024. Meanwhile the DOJ’s antitrust lawsuit could force “structural remedies—including the possible separation of Live Nation and Ticketmaster.”

Across the Atlantic, the CMA’s probe examined Ticketmaster’s sale practices surrounding the Oasis Live ‘25 Tour. The UK watchdog requires Ticketmaster to implement transparency improvements after concerns about unclear pricing tiers, misleading ‘platinum’ seats, and pressure tactics during ticket sales.

Mehta is a seasoned executive and former Chief Product Officer at Square, bringing with him a focus on artificial intelligence and digital transformation. “Saumil brings a novel viewpoint and significant product and technology knowledge that will help us capitalize on that momentum,” Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino said in a statement.

“Ticketmaster is an extraordinary organization that acts as a gateway to the finest live entertainment globally,” Saumil Mehta said about the transition. “The true potential lies in how we enhance the experience—creating more intelligence and intuitive methods for fans to engage with the live events that are significant to them.”
