Journey Saying Goodbye On Final Frontier Tour

After a 52-year run filled with some of the most familiar hits in mainstream rock history, Journey is calling it a career on the Final Frontier tour, which will encompass 60 North American shows beginning Feb. 28 in Hershey, Pa. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Nov. 14.

“This tour is our heartfelt thank you to the fans who’ve been with us every step of the way — through every song, every era, every high and low,” says Journey founder Neal Schon, who is flanked in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band by keyboardist Jonathan Cain, singer Arnel Pineda, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, drummer Deen Castronovo and bassist Todd Jensen. “We’re pulling out all the stops with a brand-new production — the hits, the deep cuts, the energy, the spectacle. It’s a full-circle celebration of the music that’s brought us all together.”

“As its founding member, I carry the Journey torch to this day, wherever I go,” he continues. “The sentiment and spirit of the band will always remain. While this marks a farewell to one powerful chapter of the Journey we’ve shared, I want everyone to know I’m not done. Music is still burning strong inside me, and there are new creative horizons ahead. This tour is both a thank you and the beginning of what’s next.”

After a stint as a teenaged guitarist in Santana, Schon formed Journey in 1973 with keyboardist Greg Rollie and bassist Ross Valory. The group broke into the mainstream following the 1977 arrival of vocalist Steve Perry, who sang such favorites as “Lovin,’ Touchin,’ ‘Squeezin,’” “Who’s Crying Now,” “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Open Arms.” Perry left Journey for good in 1998 and was replaced by a series of singers; Pineda joined in 2007 and has fronted the band ever since.
