Pay It Forward: A Benefit for Ron Holloway to Bring the Songs of The Allman Brothers Band, Derek & the Dominos and Pink Floyd to Baltimore

Pay It Forward: A Benefit for Ron Holloway will happen on Friday, December 5, at The 8×10 in Baltimore. Holloway has built his legacy on a rich performance history, supporting the likes of Warren Haynes, Susan Tedeschi, Dizzy Gillespie, Gil Scott-Heron, the early aughts-era Allman Brothers ensemble, and beyond. The music played during the fundraising event will reflect pieces of his story when folks assemble in the name of a good cause next month. 

During the forthcoming event, the chosen players, Ed Hough & Friends, featuring Bobby Thompson, Dave Markowitz, Ed Tetreault, and special guests, will dip into the songbooks of The Allman Brothers and Derek & the Dominos. Sunny Trippel’s Dark Side of the Moon Experience will honor Pink Floyd, with artist participation from Neel Singh, Jason Skeen, Lotus’ Tim Palmieri, and Jon Brady.

Rounding out the musical experience of Pay It Forward: A Benefit for Ron Holloway is Great Northern, a Washington, D.C.-based Grateful Dead tribute band. Receiving special guest status on the event bill are Palmieri, Kelly Bell, and Patrick Rainey (of the Bridge).

Previously, a GoFundMe was established to raise funds for the saxophonist after he was hospitalized in February 2025 due to complications stemming from a prior injury, which triggered a series of ailments that led to Holloway’s current condition, requiring care between medical clinics and rehabilitation centers. 

A staple of the nation’s capital’s vivacious music scene, Holloway was honored by Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, who presented him with a plaque from the US House of Representatives recognizing his “steadfast dedication to promoting and preserving music in Washington D.C,” cementing his status as a lauded regional fixture.
