Palais Theatre Community Fund returns for a sixth round of grants

Live Nation and Melbourne’s beloved Palais Theatre today announce that the Palais Theatre Community Fund has returned for a sixth round of funding.

The fund is a feature of Live National Australia Venues’ 30-year lease of the St Kilda, set up in partnership with the City of Port Phillip.

First announced in July 2016, alongside Live Nation’s $7.3 million redevelopment works of the venue, the Palais Theatre Community Fund provides long-term benefits to the St Kilda and City of Port Phillip community.

Funding for the grant is subsidised via a 50-cent donation from LNAV for every ticket sold for an event at the Palais Theatre, generating approximately $100,000 to $120,000 per year into the City of Port Phillip community.

The fund will provide grants of up to $3,000 to local registered charities and not-for-profit organizations within the City of Port Phillip.

With a focus on creative arts, infrastructure, and community activities, the grant supports organisations, and celebrates local artists that keep Melbourne’s art scene alive. Rewarding applicants in live music, film, art, theatre, dance, comedy, and writing, as well as events, internships, and educational courses.

Since launching in 2017, it has distributed over $239,000 in donations to several community projects within the City of Port Phillip.

“It is a privilege, especially during these challenging times, to be able to provide some support and relief to local community groups in the City of Port Phillip through the Palais Theatre Community Fund,” says Lloyd Jones, Venue Manager of the Palais Theatre.

The Palais Theatre Community Fund Committee, who oversee and administer the fund, is made up of five local City of Port Phillip residents and two Live Nation representatives. Round six applications are now open.
