Hot Tuna Returns to The Capitol Theatre

Last night, Hot Tuna performed an assortment of electric and acoustic tunes at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. The duo, consisting of Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady played a slew of covers including B.B King’s “Rock Me Baby” and Reverend Gary Davis’ “Death Don’t Have No Mercy.”

The evening opened with a thematic arrangement of cover songs, beginning with Leroy Carr’s “How Long Blues,” followed by Jesse Fuller’s “San Francisco Bay Blues” into the traditional number, “Uncle Sam Blues.” 

The evening continued with a cover of Muddy Waters’ “I Can’t Be Satisfied” followed by two originals, “Ode for Billy Dean” and “Sleep Song,” before closing out the first set with Bobby Rush’s “Bowlegged Woman, Knock Kneed Man.” 

The second set picked up with Richard M. Jones’ “Trouble in Mind” followed by Bob Carleton’s “Keep On Truckin’.” The evening concluded with Jorma Kaukonen’s “Good Shepherd” off Jefferson Airplane’s 1969 LP Volunteers, followed by “Funky #7,” and a “Bar Room Crystal Ball” encore.
