Peter Garrett Announces New Album & Tour, Shares First Single ‘Innocence Parts 1 & 2’

Peter Garrett has announced a new album called The True North, to be released on Friday, 15th March 2024. The album – recorded with Garrett’s band The Alter Egos – draws “inspiration and sustenance from the living colours of Australia’s natural environment and the sights and sounds of modern Oz”, according to a press statement.

Garrett has released the first cut from the album, a swirling, bluesy cut called ‘Innocence Parts 1 & 2’ – which you can hear below. Additionally, the singer and activist has announced a tour of the country, playing dates around Australia in March. See the full list of dates and details below.

Garrett will kick off the tour in Canberra on Thursday, 14th March, before moving through venues in all major cities and some regional centres and finally finishing up in Brisbane on Saturday, 30th March.

Garrett and the Alter Egos have also been locked in to perform at Bluesfest and the regional festival Riverboats.

“With the Oils, and even the first solo record, there was plenty of banging down the doors and speaking out about the things that need to change”, Garrett shared about The True North. “There’s still a bit of that in this album too of course but generally these songs are reflective of the special things we need to cherish; the natural world as well as our always spinning internal compass, that helps us navigate the unruly passage of life.”

The True North is Garrett’s second solo album, following A Version Of Now in 2016.
