AEG-owned AXS has officially taken a majority stake in SISTIC, which bills itself as Singapore’s leading ticketing platform.

AXS announced the purchase – but not the ownership or financial specifics thereof – today. Founded in 1991, SISTIC sells around six million tickets per year in Singapore (the population of which is just a bit larger than that), according to its website.

And given that the platform handles ticketing for about 1,800 events annually, the site shows, the sizable ticketing sum stems partially from high-attendance stadium concerts. But SISTIC also deals in tickets for plays, cruise dinners, museums, and different events yet (one being a perfume making workshop that runs six times per day), the same source indicates.

Bearing all that in mind, AXS is touting the investment and the adjacent strategic partnership as a means of strengthening “Singapore’s position as a premier entertainment hub” and enhancing the country’s “reputation as a major sporting and lifestyle destination.”

(Likewise contributing to the effort is the Singaporean government itself, which is reportedly looking to boost tourism revenue from a record $29.8 billion in 2024 to a whopping $50 billion by 2040. Live Nation is building a Singapore venue, its first in Southeast Asia, with support from the appropriate tourism board.)

Of course, the music- and live-sector growth occurring throughout the continent provides an added incentive to establish a presence in Singapore, where artists from My Chemical Romance to The Lumineers are scheduled to perform next year.

Running with the point, AXS international president Blaine Legere touched on the market growth behind Southeast Asia as a whole.

“Singapore and Southeast Asia represent some of the most dynamic growth markets in live entertainment,” Legere relayed in part. “By combining SISTIC’s deep regional expertise with AXS’s global technology platform, we have a unique opportunity to redefine how fans discover, access, and experience live events. Together, we’ll expand access to world-class productions while ensuring that Singapore’s celebrated arts scene continues to thrive on the global stage.”

Exploring the deal’s logistics in remarks of his own, SISTIC CEO Joe Ow disclosed plans for an “intentionally gradual” tech integration.

“Joining AXS’s network opens new opportunities for us to grow and scale our impact to meet changing demands, while staying true to our commitment to deliver professional ticketing services and experiences to clients and ticket buyers,” Ow communicated in part.

“Our technology integration will be intentionally gradual, allowing us to ensure a seamless experience for clients while we combine AXS’s global platform with our deep market knowledge and industry expertise to deliver even greater value, insights, and access to live events,” the exec proceeded.
