As the summer season continues to inspire dancefloors around the world, New York-based DJ and Producer Alex Cecil remains energised and focused – from villa sets in Ibiza to creative sessions in the studio, he’s been channelling warm-weather vibes into a range of new pursuits. Now, gearing up for some exciting projects, including a performance at Burning Man and the launch of his new label, superfine, Alex appears as an Artist in motion, taking bold steps in his evolution and forward-moving journey.

In this conversation, we catch up with him to talk seasonal shifts, creative routines, and what’s coming next.

Hi Alex, how are you? Can you share what you’ve been up to recently?

Doing great, thanks for having me!  I just wrapped a string of gigs in Europe and right now I’m in the studio finishing up some tracks that I can’t wait to play at Burning Man

I’ve also been working to get my new label superfine live with my partner Alexis Maragkos, the creator of the Brooklyn-based AIONIA collective (shhhh). More on that in the coming month.

How does the summer season influence your creative mindset? Do you notice a shift in your studio output or DJ sets during this time of year?

Summer always pushes me toward a bit more playful energy. In the studio I naturally chase textures that feel open-air ready. For my sets, it all depends on the venue and most importantly the crowd!

Are there particular sounds, textures, or grooves you find yourself naturally drawn to when producing in the warmer months?

There’s a looseness in summer music that I like weaving into my tracks. Almost like –

anything goes; just make it feel good.

What does a perfect summer dancefloor feel like to you – are there certain energies or moments you try to capture?

I aim to capture that mix of euphoria and grit where people forget the clock exists and we are all collectively locked into the groove.

Are there any destinations or travel plans on your radar over the coming months, either for work or rest?

Burning Man for now – it continues to inspire both my sets and productions. Then I’ll be back in Europe soon for ADE, with Berlin and Amsterdam always on my radar.

Have there been any standout moments for you this summer – during a set, at a festival, or behind the scenes in the studio?

Playing a villa party in Ibiza was definitely a highlight.  It’s truly a magical island.  I extended my trip four times when I was there… it’s hard to leave!

Outside of music, are there any personal goals or routines you’ve been focused on this season?

I’ve been making space for balance — staying active outdoors, snowboarding when I can, and keeping a bit of distance from screens when I’m not creating. It keeps the mind sharp for music. And cooking – every day when possible. I love to cook.

What’s been in heavy rotation for you lately? Is there a track that’s defined your summer so far?

My own “Deja Grooves” has been a constant in my sets, as well as my recent single on JEAHMON! Records, “Why Snow Flakes Turn to Rain” – depending on the show because they are very different.

Beyond that, I’ve been rinsing a lot of Indie Dance cuts from friends on the scene — those tracks fuel my flow!

If you could play a dream summer venue or festival anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Fusion Festival in Germany — it’s the perfect collision of art, community, and raw energy. The scale and freedom there line up with how my sets should be experienced.

Looking ahead, are there any upcoming releases, collaborations, or creative projects you’re excited to share next?

The big one is superfine records debut — our first release is tops and we can’t wait to share it.  It really sets the tone for what the label is all about.

Alongside that, I’ve got a few releases dropping this fall plus a collaboration with Stefan Rose that’s straight fire.

As Alex sets his sights on new releases, a label launch, and fresh collaborations, it’s clear he’s entering the next part of the year with even more determination, promise, and committed attitude. Balancing grounded instincts with a boundary-pushing approach, his work continues to evolve in step with the rhythm of the season — driven by curiosity, connection, and a passion for the dancefloor. So, be sure to keep your eyes and ears locked on Alex Cecil, following him across social media to stay up-to-date on his upcoming news and music.
