The ever-prolific Philadelphia-reared singer/songwriter Alex G has set a July 19 release date for his major label debut for RCA Records, Headlights. The artist began releasing music on Bandcamp in 2010 and signed five years later to Domino Records, which has issued his past four full-lengths.

Headlights is led by the single “Afterlife,” the Charlotte Rutherford-directed video for which is out now. The album detours into Americana sounds, Alex G’s version of which are “at turns direct and impressionistic, suffused with mystery and melancholy,” per a statement. “That heritage is audible all over the record, a gorgeous collection of absurd twists and mundane milestones narrated by one of the 21st century’s most celebrated and influential rock’n’roll architects.”

More from Spin:

Headlights is the follow-up to 2022’s God Save the Animals, which reached No. 16 on Billboard‘s Top Alternative Albums chart. It will be supported by an extensive fall tour, beginning Sept. 10 in Boston.

Beforehand, Alex G will visit the London and Manchester editions of the U.K.’s Outbreak festival in mid-June and will also perform July 25 at the Newport Folk Festival in Newport, R.I.
