Another Young Artist Crashes? Lola Young Cancels All Upcoming Shows to ‘Work On Myself’

Lola Young announces stepping away from the spotlight to focus on her health after she collapsed on stage during a performance over the weekend.

British singer-songwriter Lola Young has announced the cancellation of all her upcoming shows to focus on her health, after an incident in which she collapsed on stage during a performance in New York over the weekend.

“I’m going away for a while,” wrote Young in a post on her Instagram Stories. “It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future. Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me; it hurts me more than you know.”

She added that fans who purchased tickets to any of her shows will “obviously” be entitled to a full refund. “I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger,” she wrote.

Young was scheduled to play at a slew of music festivals and shows with dates running into next year. The cancellations include her North American headlining tour, consisting of 17 shows that was scheduled to kick off on November 1.

Before the incident at New York’s All Things Go festival, the singer had cancelled a performance in New Jersey, citing mental health reasons. She addressed the cancellation during her set on Saturday, explaining she had “had a tricky couple of days.”

“Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue,” she explained at the time. “But you know what? Today I woke up, and I made the decision to come here, and I wanted to be cool. Sometimes life can throw you lemons, and you just gotta make lemonade.”

Young confirmed she was “OK” after the incident, which saw her collapse during a performance of her song “Conceited,” after which she was carried offstage by a medical unit. Shortly afterward, her labelmate, Remi Wolf, appeared onstage to reassure the audience. “My friend Lola is backstage, and she is okay.”

Nick Shymansky, Young’s manager, posted on her Instagram Story that he had recommended she cancel the New Jersey performance as a “protective measure.”
