Austin Psych Fest Unveils 2025 Artist Lineup: The Flaming Lips, Thee Sacred Souls, Ty Segall, The Black Angels, DIIV and More

The Reverberation Appreciation Society has officially unveiled the initial artist lineup for Austin Psych Fest, set to stage at Austin, Texas’ Far Out Lounge from May 8-10. Continuing the legacy that’s earned Austin the title of Live Music Capitol of the World, the storied event has assembled another bill that reflects the diverse and evolving face of psychedelia. The 23 diverse acts booked for the 15th annual event so far are among the foremost voices in rock, led by headliners The Flaming Lips, Thee Sacred Souls and longtime festival favorites The Black Angels.

Austin Psych Fest 2025 will commence on Friday with a lineup rooted in indie and nu gaze. Early sets from Starcleaner Revolution, Brazilian psych-rockers Boogarins and Austin’s fuzzy dream-pop staples Holy Wave will precede rising shoegaze outfits Momma and Glare and 15-year indie trailblazers DIIV. Day one will culminate in a headline set from The Flaming Lips, who recently saw renewed attention for the departure of 33-year lead guitarist Steven Drozd.

On Saturday, Austin Psych Fest will skew into garage-leaning acts with early sets from STRANGE LOT, Grocery Bag, and Annabelle Chairlegs, whose highly anticipated Ty Segall-produced third studio album, Waking Up, is due on Jan. 30. Psych-punk icon Segall himself will take the stage after Lisbon’s Al Qasar and Venice’s New Candys, just before Melody’s Echo Chamber continues the celebration of acclaimed 2025 album Unclouded. Day two’s headline set will come from Austin institution and Reverberation Appreciation Society founders The Black Angels, who will mark the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Passover.

The 15th Austin Psych Fest will come to a close on Sunday with a taste of the Southwestern style that’s made waves in psychedelia in recent years, flowing first from opening acts Money Chica, Como La Movies and a DJ set from Black Pumas’ Adrian Quesada. Italian psych-pop forerunners Dumbo Gets Mad, garage-psych project Night Beats, and Angeleno psychedelic soul song-stylist Trish Toledo will pave the way for the Latin-inspired instrumental trio LA LOM and finally Chicano souldies revivalists Thee Sacred Souls.
