Australian Pop Punkers Blast into ARIA Charts With Debut Album

A burgeoning Australian pop punk band has soared to the top end of the ARIA charts this week with their debut album.

Sydney outfit SoSo’s first record, So Much For Second Chances, has debuted at No. 4 on the Albums list, a hugely impressive feat given they only sit behind the Wicked: For Good soundtrack at No. 1, Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving at No. 2 and Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl at No. 3.

So Much For Second Chances has also taken out top spot on the Australian Artist Albums chart and No. 2 on the Vinyls list.

“We are absolutely blown away,” SoSo said.

“This is something we are incredibly proud of and we owe it all to our SoSo Crew: you know who you are! We are so lucky to have the best fanbase in the world, they back us every step of the way and have believed in our push for this album more than anyone else. This means so much to us as an independent band, we can’t wait to share what we have cooking up next.”

Other local debuts on the Albums chart this week include The Smith Street Band’s seventh LP, Once I Was Wild, at No. 14, Midnight Til Morning’s debut EP, Afterglow, at No. 16, Melbourne-born-London-based producer SWIM’s second record, Dear Friend, at No. 22 and Tasmanian rock band Lennon Wells’s first album, Blink (And You’ll Miss It), at No. 45.

On the Singles chart, ARIA Awards performer Olivia Dean holds top spot for a second week with “Man I Need”, while South Korean boy band Stray Kids, which includes Aussies Felix and Bangchan, score the week’s highest new entry, “Do It” at No. 10.
