Authorities Investigating After ‘Hundreds’ Sneak Into Oasis Concert at Wembley Stadium

Wembley Stadium authorities are investigating allegations that hundreds of Oasis fans snuck into a gig at the venue without a ticket.
Authorities are investigating after up to 200 fans were allegedly able to sneak into an Oasis concert at Wembley Stadium without a ticket. The 90s rock darlings recently played a series of shows there as part of their Live 25 reunion tour.
Two attendees told The Sun that “up to 200” fans were asked for £350 each to be spirited into one of the concerts through a disabled entrance. According to the report, the group was able to use a copy of the same ticket to gain entrance into the stadium, where they were handed wristbands giving them VIP access to the area at the front of the stage.
The two concertgoers said two women allegedly orchestrated the scam, telling them they had “10 groups of 20” waiting. “We were given our tickets, which were all the same, and a woman drew a shape on our hands,” one of the attendees told The Sun. “We were told to go to the disabled door at entrance M, even though our tickets said entrance F.”
“We showed our stamped hands to the person on the door; they scanned the tickets, even though we all had the same one, and let us in,” they explained. “Another member of staff then handed us a golden circle wristband, and that was it. There were zero security searches. We just walked straight in.”
A spokesperson for Wembley Stadium released a statement: “Entering Wembley Stadium without a ticket is a serious offense, and we are investigating these allegations,” they said. “If they are substantiated, we will refer our evidence to the police.”
Oasis performed a run of shows at Wembley between July 25 and August 3. The concerts were the first that brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher had appeared together on stage at the London venue since July 2009.
Last week, at another Oasis show at Wembley, a fan tragically fell to their death from the upper tier of the stadium. Paramedics pronounced the 45-year-old man dead at the scene.
While the incident was not on the same night that over a hundred fans were said to have sneaked into the venue, it makes one wonder if the stadium exceeded capacity that night as well.
Authorities are investigating the matter, while fans say safety precautions at the venue have not been up to par. Representatives of Wembley told the BBC they “operated to a very high health and safety standard” and met all legal requirements.
