Beastwars Plot First Aussie Tour Since 2020, Announce New Album ‘The Ship // The Sea’

Lock up your schooners and brace your eardrums – New Zealand’s sludge/psych metal titans Beastwars are sailing back across the ditch this November for their first Australian East Coast run since 2020, armed with a brand-new album.

Hitting the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, the tour celebrates the release of the band’s upcoming sixth studio record The Ship // The Sea (out November 7th via Destroy Records). True to form, Beastwars’ latest offering is apocalyptic, primal, and heavy enough to sink a trawler – recorded oceanside at Mount Maunganui to fully capture the waves of doom that crash through every track.

Beastwars – ‘Levitate’

“This will be our first East Coast run since the beginning of 2020 and we’re so excited to have a kick ass new album to share with Aussie fans,” drummer Nato shares in a press statement. “Australia has always welcomed us with open arms, and the feeling is mutual.”

The new LP dives deep into survival, darkness and catharsis. From the storming lead single ‘Levitate’ (listen above) to the record’s broader water-soaked metaphor of life as a cruel, unpredictable sea, frontman Matthew Hyde says it best: “This album is the sound of a ship adrift on a cruel sea”.

Over their career, Beastwars have slugged it out alongside Mastodon, The Melvins, Fu Manchu, High On Fire and Kyuss Lives.
