Billy Ray Cyrus Reacts to Miley Cyrus & Maxx Morando Engagement: ‘Happy to See You Both So Happy!’

Miley Cyrus is engaged, and the father of the soon-to-be bride — Billy Ray Cyrus — couldn’t be happier to be gaining a new son-in-law soon.

In an Instagram post Wednesday (Dec. 3), the country star shared two photos of his daughter and her new fiancé, Maxx Morando. In one, Cyrus wraps her arms around the Liily bandmember at a restaurant and models a shiny new engagement ring with a gold band and sparkly diamond embedded in the center on her left-hand finger.

“So happy you and MaxxAgazillion found each other!!!!” Billy Ray wrote. “Congratulations! Happy to see you both so happy!!!”

The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer also posted a throwback snap of himself and Miley with Dolly Parton. “No wonder you turned out so special … You have the greatest Godmother in the world!!! @dollyparton,” he added in the caption, which he signed, “love Dad.”

The congratulatory message comes one day after news broke that Miley and Morando were planning to get married after four years of dating. This week, the pop star confirmed her engagement in an interview with Billboard, revealing that she isn’t in a rush to walk down the aisle.

“Now with the holidays coming up, I’ll have a little bit more time to think about it,” she said of wedding-date planning. “My instinct is always to enjoy every moment for as long as you possibly can.”

The singer/actress was previously married to Liam Hemsworth, from whom she separated in 2018 before finalizing her divorce in 2020. Two years later, Billy Ray split from Miley’s mom, Tish Cyrus, after 28 years of marriage.

Much like his daughter, though, the crooner has also welcomed new love into his life. This past April, Billy Ray went public with his romance with actress Elizabeth Hurley, whom he reconnected with after his divorce from third wife Firerose. (The musician was also previously married to Cindy Smith before Tish.)

“Billy’s a very, very fabulous person,” Hurley gushed in May to Entertainment Tonight. “He’s a very gentle man, very nice … We’re very happy.”
