R&B singer Brandy has issued an apology to fans in Chicago after she walked off-stage mid-performance during a concert with fellow R&B singer Monica. The performance was part of the duo’s “The Boy Is Mine” tour—which the audience didn’t get to hear after the walk-off.

According to a TMZ report, Brandy stopped mid-song and then told the audience “Give me one second, y’all, I gotta get my…” before she walked off stage and disappeared. Monica seemed confused as she waited for Brandy to return, but continued to sing “The Boy Is Mine” without Brandy following her exit.

The singer took to social media to apologize to fans and explain herself. She said she felt dehydrated and “had feelings of wanting to faint,” but also complained about the sound production of the show. She thanked fellow singer Monica and the concert crew for continuing the performance in her absence. Brandy says she went to the doctor after the performance and will take better precautions going forward.

To My Dear Fans in Chicago, thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and most importantly—your prayers. I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago. After weeks of non-stop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint, everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance.

“I still made the decision to try and return and give ti my all despite not feeling ok. With having to make some adjustments and the show being very technical, unfortunately, it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production. I really appreciate everyone’s best efforts,” Brandy stated on social media.

“I’m deeply grateful to my sister, Monica, for stepping up with such grace and professionalism and the entire crew for their continued care and support. I went from the arena to see a doctor nearby and have taken the proper precautions to help me move forward. Your understanding, patience, and unwavering belief mean the world to me.”

“I look forward to returning to the stage stronger and more grateful than ever alongside my girl, Monica, tonight in Indianapolis,” the singer concluded.

Brandy’s stage exit follows Lola Young’s collapse on stage at the All Things Go Music Festival in New York in September. The singer was in the middle of singing her 2024 song “Conceited” when she suddenly fell backwards onto the floor, shocking the audience in attendance. Before the collapse, Young told the crowd she’d had a tricky couple of days.
