The soundtrack world has grown remarkably over the past 10 years.
Now a sphere arguably on par with artists’ own work, the potential offered by the cinematic and television realm creates another platform for their work.
Incoming film American Dreamer was overseen by director Derrick Borte, with Jim Gaffigan taking the central role.
A moving, challenging, and at times intense production, it comes with a specially constructed score from composer Bryan Senti.
The score mirrors the central character’s awful descent, with Jim Gaffigan’s ride-share driver falling through the economic safety net and into a web of madness.
Phantom Limb launches its new filmscore imprint Geist im Kino this year, and the new endeavour’s first project is the full release of the American Dreamer score.
Reminiscent of Alessandro Cortini or Tim Hecker in its slow-paced influence, Bryan Senti plays with nuance on a coy, but richly emotionally rewarding soundrack.
“I wanted to shadow the main character’s decent,” Senti writes. “Minimal upfront, slowly descending into chaos.”
We’re able to share a short excerpt – tune in now.
