Charli XCX is officially closing the chapter on her Brat era.
On Friday (Aug. 15), the 33-year-old pop star delivered the final headlining performance in support of her blockbuster album Brat at the One Universe Festival in Gwacheon-si, South Korea.
To mark the occasion, Charli — who married The 1975’s George Daniel in July — surprised fans with a cryptic message and a teaser for her next creative endeavor.
“Please don’t let it be over,” read a message on a massive video screen behind her as she strutted across the stage.
Shortly after the performance, she took to Instagram to share a photo of the dramatic moment, along with a short clip featuring a film slate teasing her upcoming A24 project The Moment, a film based on an original concept by Charli herself.
The English singer-songwriter dominated last summer with the release of her sixth studio album, Brat, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, her highest position to date. With its viral lime-green cover, club-ready production, and unexpected influence on the 2024 U.S. presidential race, Brat catapulted Charli from cult favorite to full-fledged pop icon.
Now, following the success of the album and its accompanying tour, Charli appears to be shifting her focus to film. In addition to The Moment, she’s set to star in and produce an upcoming film from acclaimed Japanese horror director Takashi Miike (Yakuza Apocalypse).
Her growing list of on-screen roles also includes the upcoming erotic thriller I Want Your Sex, alongside Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman; the satirical drama Sacrifice, with Chris Evans and Anya Taylor-Joy; and the fantasy adaptation 100 Nights of Hero.
Outside of her music career, Charli tied the knot with The 1975’s drummer Daniel in an intimate ceremony on July 19, attended by close friends and family at Hackney Town Hall in London. “did something,” she captioned a series of photos from the ceremony on Instagram.
The couple announced their engagement in July 2023.
