With ‘Cold Heart’ warming up sales charts around the globe, Pnau enters the elite ranks on Spotify.

The Sydney electronic trio of Peter Mayes and brothers Nick and Sam Littlemore bounce into Spotify’s global list of Top 100 streamed artists, at No. 84.

That places the lads ahead of fellow Aussies AC/DC (No. 116), 5 Seconds Of Summer (No. 190), Tones And I (No. 195), Masked Wolf (No. 316), and behind Sia (No. 40) and The Kid Laroi, the only homegrown artist in the Spotify Top 10 (at No. 10).

Pnau’s global ranking (which is updated daily) is credit for their work on Elton John’s ‘Cold Heart,’ a mashup of several classic Rocket Man songs, and featuring vocals from Dua Lipa.

‘Cold Heart’ recently ended Ed Sheeran’s months-long reign over the U.K. singles chart, and it powered Elton’s latest album, The Lockdown Sessions, to No. 1 on the current U.K. albums tally.

Pnau now boasts 27 million monthly listeners on Spotify, while ‘Cold Heart’ sits at No. 2 on the ARIA Singles Chart and appears at No. 21 — with a bullet — on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

Pnau’s goal has always been to have the whole world dancing together in love and unity.”

Pnau and Elton make a fine team. Back in 2012, the Aussies handed Elton his first U.K. No. 1 in 22 with their remix album Good Morning To The Night.

Spotify, meanwhile, was a rare beneficiary of the pandemic. As folks around the globe were locked-down and stuck at home, the Swedish company’s active monthly user base grew by nearly 20% year-on-year, to 381 million in the third quarter (up from 365 million).

At the same time, its tally of “premium” subscribers lifted 19% to 172 million in the same period.
