Cody Dickinson Shares Junior Kimbrough Cover, Signs to Petaluma Records

Today, North Mississippi Allstar’s Cody Dickinson shared a new single and official music video for his cover of the Junior Kimbrough blues classic “All Night Long.” Paired with the reinterpreted tune is news of the musician’s decision to shift labels, joining Petaluma Records, a label associated with the Grammy-winning Take Me to the River: New Orleans compilation soundtrack. 

Touching on his Southern roots and Mississippi upbringing, Dickinson mentioned Kimbrough and other Hill Country Blues masters like RL Burnside via a press release, supporting his decision to take on the choice cover: “‘All Night Long’ is an anthem hit from Junior Kimbrough’s in Tchulahoma, Mississippi. Junior and his sons David and Kent would close the show with this song every Sunday night, usually with RL Burnside and his family playing and watching. I was so blessed in this life to have witnessed this firsthand.”

In addition to the single, John Sopkia of Petaluma Records mentioned: “I became friends with Cody through his work as co-producer on the Take Me to the River: New Orleans documentary and album. After our Grammy win, he shared his new solo recordings and we jumped at the opportunity to be his label partner on this new chapter of his incredible career.”

At this time, Dickinson intends to mark his Petaluma Records affiliation with a new debut album, expected to be released in late Spring 2024. The artist is currently on the road with Allman Betts Family Revival and join his North Mississippi Allstar bandmates beginning in January 2024.
