Cog Return With First New Music In Six Years, ‘Walk The Line’

After six long years, Aussie prog-rock titans Cog have finally dropped fresh music – their powerful new single, ‘Walk the line’.

It’s the band’s first release since 2019’s ‘Drawn Together’ single, and it arrives with all the trademarks that have made Cog one of Australia’s most enduring heavy acts: hypnotic guitar swells, thunderous rhythm work, fluid basslines, and Flynn Gower’s commanding vocal presence.

But behind the towering soundscape though, ‘Walk the line’ hits on something more sobering. “Life for the three of us is fucking hard at the moment,” Flynn admits. “Almost everyone I know is in the same boat, scratching their heads and wondering how to survive. The microcosm of the music and arts industry in Australia has gotten especially tough, and we’re all feeling the effects of that.”

The trio – Flynn, Luke Gower, and Lucius Borich – aren’t sure what the future holds, but ‘Walk the line’ captures that uncertainty in a way only Cog can. As Flynn explains: “We don’t know if this will be the last song. And that’s really what ‘Walk the line’ is all about at its core.”

Fans will get their chance to hear it live later this year, with Cog hitting the road in November and December for a string of shows in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Newcastle, Caloundra, Adelaide, Byron Bay, and a newly added date in Coffs Harbour. They’ll also appear at the Bird’s Robe 15th Birthday Tour in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.
