Connan Mockasin Announces 2025 East-Coast Australian Shows

Connan Mockasin has announced his return to Australia for a four-date run of east coast shows next month. The acclaimed New Zealand singer-songwriter has not played across the ditch since March 2019, where he played a run of headlining theatre shows in support of his fourth studio album Jassbusters. Mockasin’s full list of dates, as well as ticketing information, can be found below.

Since Mockasin was last in Australia, he has released a further two studio albums – both of which came out within months of one another in 2021. The first was It’s Just Wind, a collaborative LP with Mockasin’s father Ade which was, reportedly, completely improvised by the pair with Mockasin’s band. The second was Jassbusters Too, a sequel to Jassbusters, which was released in November.

In addition to performing shows in Melbourne and in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, Mockasin and his band will also perform at the Sydney Opera House in the Playhouse Theatre. In a press statement, Ben Marshall – the venue’s Head Of Contemporary Music – described Mockasin as “one of contemporary music’s true enigmas”. “[His music is] oddly seductive and brimming with originality, weaving experimental synth soundscapes with soulful, dreamlike guitar,” he said.

“His music drifts effortlessly between the eccentric and the ethereal. To experience him in the intimacy of the Playhouse will be unmatched and wonderfully weird – like stumbling upon a neighbourhood garage jam, but with one of the most singular musicians of our time.”
