Despite posting record revenue in the first half of 2025, CTS Eventim reveals lackluster earnings, causing stock to fall almost 17%.
CTS Eventim shares dropped after the company posted a lukewarm profit report in the first half of the year, despite posting record revenue. The company’s executive board maintained its 2025 guidance of a “moderate” increase in adjusted EBITDA, but noted the “challenging macroeconomic picture constitutes a source of uncertainty.”
Due to “intense and persistent cost pressures,” including those associated with integrating France Billet, See Tickets, and U-Live, CTS Eventim’s adjusted EBITDA fell 0.8% in H1. However, mid-year consolidated revenue was up 7.6% to a record 1.41 billion. CTS Eventim expects “considerable synergy effects” will produce “an additional boost to profit margins.”
Second quarter consolidated revenue rose 0.3% to $902 million, while ticketing revenue jumped 15.4% to $229 million. The live entertainment division fell 4.5% to $683 million, while adjusted EBITDA fell 8.9% to $114 million, driven by a 39.7% drop in live entertainment’s overall adjusted EBITDA. Live entertainment’s adjusted EBITDA was down 26.1%, while the division’s adjusted EBITDA margin dropped from 5.3% to 3.8% in the same period last year.
Shares were down 16% in early morning European trading last week as a result of the dip in earnings. However, shares are up 2.1% over the year to date.
As Europe’s largest concert promoter and ticketing company, CTS Eventim purchased See Tickets and a festival business from Vivendi last year in a $327 million deal. In December, it became a majority stakeholder in France Billet. These lukewarm financials come during a time when many concert organizers and promoters are struggling.
The promoter’s live entertainment business includes 34 tour operators in 15 countries. CTS Eventim is the entity behind such festivals as Rock am Ring and venues like the Waldbühne in Berlin, the Eventim Apollo in London, the K.B. Halls in Copenhagen, and the Lanxess Arena in Cologne. Its ticketing empire is strongest in its home country of Germany, but it has operations throughout Europe, the U.S., and South America.
