d4vd Removed From Spilt Milk 2025 Lineup Amidst Body-In-The-Trunk Investigation
CONTENT WARNING: The following article discusses the death of a teenage girl
American singer-songwriter d4vd appears to have been removed from this year’s Spilt Milk lineup, following the discovery of human remains – belonging to a missing teenage girl – in the boot of a car allegedly registered in his name.
Festival organisers quietly scrubbed the 20-year-old artist’s name from their website and socials this week, just days after Los Angeles police confirmed that a body found in an impounded Tesla was that of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was just 13-years-old when she was reported missing in April of last year.
“We believe it is inappropriate for him to be given this platform”
While US authorities have stressed that d4vd (real name David Anthony Burke) has not been charged and is cooperating with the investigation, there has still been mounting pressure on Spilt Milk from advocacy groups such as @whatwereyouwearing (above) to remove him from this year’s lineup.
“Regardless of whether the allegations are proven or not, we believe it is inappropriate for him to be given this platform,” the sexual abuse survivor charity expressed on Instagram.
The news comes as venues across the US and Europe cancel d4vd’s scheduled appearances, including his last two American tour dates and a Grammy Museum appearance in LA. Police also searched a Hollywood Hills property linked to the singer late last week, recovering “several items of evidence” for analysis.
Closer to home, things are murkier. d4vd was originally set to play Spilt Milk dates in Ballarat, Perth, Canberra and the Gold Coast alongside Kendrick Lamar this December, as well as headline shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
While he’s vanished from the Spilt Milk bill, his Australian sideshows are still listed on Ticketmaster and his official website at the time of writing. Promoters for both the festival and his headline run are yet to comment on the situation.
With his debut album WITHERED released earlier this year, d4vd had been positioned as one of the rising genre-blurring voices of Gen Z alt-pop. Now, with one of the most high-profile investigations in recent memory hanging over his name, his future tour plans – including his visit down under – are in serious doubt.
