Daryl Hall Granted Temporary Restraining Order Against John Oates

The future of Hall & Oates appears uncertain after Daryl Hall was granted a temporary restraining order against his former music partner, John Oates. In addition to the aforementioned request, which will go into effect on Nov. 30, an additional undisclosed complaint was filed on Nov. 16.

The Nashville Chancery Court has confirmed the proceedings taking place in Music City. While details have yet to be unveiled in full, it has been reported that The Daryl Hall Revocable Trust sued the John W. Oats TISA Trust and its co-trustees, leading to the current events.  

Previously, Hall had hinted at the nature of his relationship with the other half of his musical project, Oates, during an interview on Bill Maher’s podcast last year. Hall stated, “You think John Oates is my partner? He’s my business partner. He is not my creative partner.”

The musician followed up and added, “John and I are brothers, but we are not creative brothers. We are business partners. We made records called Hall & Oates together, but we’ve always been very separate, and that’s a really important thing for me.” 

Hall & Oates rose to stardom in the 1970s, charting the Billboard Hot 100 with hits like “Rich Girl,” “Maneater,” “Out of Touch,” and other well-known material.
