Daze Between New Orleans has announced its inaugural festivities will take place between The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival’s weekends at the Faubourg Brewery on May 3 and 4. The event will dish out a musical gumbo of funk, jazz, fam, folk and more to honor the Crescent City’s most flavorful and celebrated week.
The event’s name comes from the staying power of the celebratory energy born during Jazz Fest and promises to keep revelers dancing even while the Fair Grounds are closed in the days between weekends.
Both evenings of Daze Between New Orleans will have headlining performances by The String Cheese Incident, along with local New Orleans bands and touring acts. Tuesday, May 3, will welcome Grammy-award-winning group Snarky Puppy, along with Eric Krasno & Friends, Erica Falls, Nicholas Payton and Benny & The Late Bloomers. Wednesday, May 4, will see sets from psych-funk outfit Lettuce, the Rebirth Brass Band, Honey Island Swamp Band, The Rumble featuring Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. and The Iceman Special.
The event will also feature traditional southern cuisine along with their Faubourg beer from on-site “strEATery” Fete Au Fete, and host an artist village with live painting.
“To me, Jazz Fest has always been more than just a festival that takes place at the Fair Grounds on two separate weekends,” said Live For Live Music founder and promoter for the event, Kunj Shah, in a press release. “It’s the food, it’s the culture, it’s the late-night shows. It’s a chance to recapture our love affair with New Orleans during the days between. With this new festival, we’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute something special to this city that has given us all so much music, culture, and inspiration.
A portion of the proceeds from the event and art village will go to New Orleans-based nonprofit organizations via the Rex Foundation.
Single-day and two-day GA and VIP passes, as well as hotel packages, for the inaugural Daze Between New Orleans festival go on sale this Friday, March 11t at 12:00 p.m. CT / 1:00 p.m. EST. Learn more about the festival here.
