Diddy’s Defense Team Says They Contacted Trump About a Pardon

An attorney for Sean “Diddy” Combs confirms that his team has reached out to the Trump administration about a potential pardon.
A member of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ defense team told CNN that they’ve already reached out to the Trump administration about a potential pardon following Combs’ conviction on two charges of transportation to engage in prostitution.
Trump has indicated that he was unlikely to pardon Combs during an interview last week. “I was very friendly with him; I got along with him great, and he seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile.” This, said Trump, makes pardoning Combs “more difficult to do.”
Officials at the White House would “not comment on the existence or nonexistence of any clemency request,” when contacted by CNN.
“It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,” said Westmoreland, who added that Combs is “a very hopeful person” regarding his chances of a pardon, even after Trump’s remarks.
But a potential pardon is likely even further hindered by the efforts of 50 Cent, who has wasted no time trolling Combs online since Trump’s comments. The “Candy Shop” rapper shared an AI-generated photo of himself and Trump laughing together. In the caption, he wrote, “Can you believe he thought he was getting pardoned? No, sir, you are not. You said very nasty things…”
That post is just the latest from 50 Cent, who has happily trolled Combs throughout his trial, and remarked that he would personally contact Trump to dissuade him from a pardon. Of course, the rapper admitted he thinks that isn’t even necessary; Combs’ past remarks about the current president should be enough of a nail in that coffin.
Last month, a jury convicted Combs on two notably lesser charges of transportation to engage in prostitution, acquitting him of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. Had he been convicted of the most serious charges against him, the hip-hop mogul would be facing life in prison. Instead, he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years, although he is unlikely to serve that long a sentence, according to legal analysts. His sentencing is scheduled for October 3.
