Independent music publisher Kobalt has signed rising Australian soul artist Don West.

Drawing inspiration from legends like Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield, as well as contemporary acts including Jalen Ngonda and Thee Sacred Souls, West brings a fresh yet timeless sound to modern soul.

“Don is effortlessly cool and charismatic. His deep-rooted love of classic soul and blues, combined with his coastal upbringing, has shaped a sound that’s resonating with audiences around the world,” said Briese Abbott, Kobalt’s Head of Creative Services Australia & New Zealand.

“His songwriting feels instantly familiar, nostalgic yet contemporary, and inherently inviting. We’re thrilled to be working with Don and his team as more people discover his remarkable talent.”

He first gained notoriety with his debut EP in November 2024, featuring standout tracks like “Small Change” and “Friends”. Building on that momentum, he kicked off 2025 with the release of singles “Send It Back”, “Julia”, and “Give Me All Your Love”.

He is rounding out what’s been a busy year with a run of headline shows and festival appearances in Australia, following a sold-out European debut tour. With his debut album, Give Me All Your Love released this month and another global tour planned for 2026, the Kobalt partnership marks an exciting new chapter as 2025 comes to a close.

“We are thrilled to have Kobalt representing Don West for his publishing. Briese, Simon & the international teams have all been hugely supportive of Don’s songwriting and we immediately felt like it was the right home for his music. We are looking forward to working with Kobalt to support Don on the next chapter of his creative endeavors,” said Max McKeith at FRNDS Management.

Across 10 global offices, Kobalt serves over one million songs, representing some of the biggest songwriters in the world, including Roddy Ricch, Max Martin, Karol G, Andrew Watt, Stevie Nicks, Phoebe Bridgers, The Lumineers, Gunna, Justin Quiles, The Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney, and many more.
