English Teacher’s ‘Good Grief’ A Riveting Tale Of Lockdown Humdrum

English Teacher return with new single ‘Good Grief’.

Out now on Nice Swan Records, it follows a string of excellent returns, matching barbed, often hilarious lyricism against bundles of askew guitar pop riffery.

‘Good Grief’ nabs the title from Peanuts’ character Charlie Brown, and it carries a mutual sense of ennui to the iconic cartoon character.

A tale of attempting to get through lockdown humdrum, it moves from virtual dates to everyday humdrum via the lingering spectre of death.

As singer Lily Fontaine puts it…

“The track follows the love story of Track and Trace as they navigate their relationship through 2020. It’s about the virtual dates, the TikTok dances, the Karens in supermarkets and the obscene levels of potentially avoidable suffering, once again, orchestrated by those at the top.”

A contradictory bundle of emotions wrapped up in a helter-skelter guitar pop burner, ‘Good Grief’ recalls everyone from Pavement to Dry Cleaning, while finding its own path.
