On December 30, Alex Jordan hosted a special Dead at the Junction show to kick off his Winter Warmer series. This performance, which took place at the Junction Beer Garden and Bottle Shop in Mill Valley, CA, featured Jordan on guitar alongside Scott Guberman on keyboards, Brian Rashap on bass and Pete Lavezzoli on drums.

The evening took on a new layers, as thanks to the Grateful Guitars Foundation, Guberman performed on some of Grateful Dead keyboardist Brent Mydland’s instruments. Guberman appeared on Mydland’s mid-80s Emulator II as well as the Kurzweil that Mydland used from ’87-’90 (and Vince Welnick played at Bill Graham’s memorial show in Golden Gate Park on 11/3/91).

Looking back on the experience, Guberman posted, “I played another one of Brent Mydland’s keyboards! Grateful Guitars Foundation brought out Brent’s Emulator II from the 80’s in addition to his Midiboard that I got to play once before. It was quite an honor. The band consisted of some of the best Terrapin Allstars.”

GGF founder Andy Logan added, “Thanks so much, Scott Guberman and Alex Jordan for breathing life into Brent’s old keyboards- what a huge thrill!! These tones were a central part of the 80s and the sounds we were so lucky to experience. Thanks also to Brian Rashap and Pete Lavezzoli for bringing it all show!! Thanks to Bo Putnam, Shaun Wilson, Darrel Thomas and Doug Frazer for the awesome sound!! And thanks to the Junction and especially to all the fans who came out strong.”
