Green Day are officially putting fans on notice. The punk icons have started teasing plans to mark 25 years since the release of their sixth album Warning, which dropped back on October 3rd, 2000.

Billie Joe & co posted a cryptic all-green video on socials overnight, captioned: “WARNING ! Warning: 25 is almost here !” – while the song ‘Minority’ blasts in the background, with all signs pointing to some kind of anniversary reissue coming in hot.

“Warning: 25 is almost here”

No tracklist or bonus content has been confirmed yet, but Green Day fan account greendayinc has hinted at “demos and live performances” being included.

Back in the day, Warning peaked at #4 on the US Billboard 200 and hit platinum status here in Australia, spawning singles like ‘Minority’, ‘Waiting’ and of course the big title track. While it was seen as a commercial flop at the time, the record is now viewed as a crucial stepping stone to their global smash American Idiot, just four years later.

And if their recent anniversary editions of Dookie (30 years) and American Idiot (20 years) are anything to go by, fans can expect a stacked box set, vinyl variants, and a treasure chest of unreleased material when Warning 25 finally lands.

Green Day last visited Australia earlier this year in support of their most recent record Saviors – though their Gold Coast stadium date was sadly canned due to Cyclone Alfred.

But maybe this Warning silver jubilee could give them a solid excuse to return?

We’ll keep you updated…
