Grizzly Bear Announce First Shows in Six Years

Grizzly Bear have returned. After a spell away from the spotlight, the indie mainstays broke their silence today to announce a seven-stop tour, which will mark the band’s first headline performances since 2018. Adding to that excitement, the fall series will align with four vinyl reissues of the most beloved albums from the group’s time on the front lines of the alt-rock eruption of the aughts and ‘10s.

From Oct. 13-16, the long-dormant Brooklyn-based quartet of Ed Droste, Daniel Rossen, Chris Taylor and Christopher Bear will return to the stage for the first time since a set at Just Like Heaven 2019 with a three-night hometown booking at Brooklyn Steel. The group will continue its revival with a one-off staging at Chicago’s Salt Shed on Nov. 8, then wrap the run with three West Coast performances at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on Nov. 12, San Francisco’s The Warfield on Nov. 18 and Oakland, Calif.’s Fox Theater on Nov. 19. Tickets will be available for presale tomorrow, May 28 at 10 a.m. local time, with a general on-sale following on Friday, May 30 at 10 a.m. local time.

As they never broke up, this isn’t technically a reunion, but the celebratory effect is the same. On top of the shows, Grizzly Bear will share limited edition represses of 2006’s Yellow House, 2009’s Veckatimest, 2012’s Shields, and 2017’s Painted Ruins, all presented on colored vinyl and arriving on Oct. 17.
