Foley is a post-production technique used to create and record various everyday sounds that are added to films, TV shows, and other media to enhance the sense of realism. It was named after its inventor, Jack Foley. These sounds could be anything from footsteps, squeaky doors, breaking glass, to explosions, and fighting sounds, among others. Foley is used when the original sound recorded during filming is insufficient, of poor quality, or if it is not possible to capture the required sound while filming (for example, when shooting silent).
