Are receivers as good as amplifiers?

No, receivers and amplifiers serve different purposes in audio systems. An amplifier is used to increase the power of a signal, while a receiver performs several functions such as tuning, processing and switching between different audio sources. Although high-end receivers may have built-in amplifiers, it doesn’t mean they are as good as standalone amplifiers. The quality of an amplifier largely depends on its specific design and components, and often a separate amplifier will provide better sound quality than an amplifier built into a receiver.
