For use in Audacity, both MP3 and WAV file formats are suitable. However, they each have their own advantages and disadvantages.

WAV files are uncompressed, which means they maintain high audio quality. This is beneficial if you’re working with professional-grade audio and need to preserve the highest sound quality possible. However, WAV files tend to be much larger in file size compared to MP3s.

On the other hand, MP3 files are compressed and have lower file sizes than WAV files. This is useful if you’re working with large numbers of files and need to manage storage space. But, the compression process can lead to a slight reduction in audio quality.

So, the better format between MP3 and WAV for Audacity depends on your specific needs and circumstances. If audio quality is your top priority, go with WAV. If you need to save space, MP3 might be a better option
